Casonetto the Cleric is the son of a wealthy shipping merchant, and is from Yournstan, where his fathers business is based. He considers himself a romantic, although critics might call him lecherous, and for his companions he prefers those that have some association with Lillien. Casonetto believes that many of those who are born to privelege do not appreciate what they have, and often waste their time on trivial matters. He decided early on that he would be different, and took advantage of his family’s connections and wealth to travel broadly and learn as much about the world as he could. During this period he developed a particular interest in Divine matters, and read a great deal about the gods and their history.
At first this was simply for entertainment, but as he studied the nature of the Divine he became more and more fascinated by it. Casonetto felt especially drawn to Lillien, the Storm Queen of Tamrien. Eventually, he decided he would try to use his knowledge to gain her attention. He managed to locate a farm that was being menaced by a lemure, a low-ranking type of devil. He knew that a lemure was evil, lawful, yet essentialy mindless. They embodied many of the things Lillien opposed. Casonetto purchased a short-sword of pure silver, and had it inscribed with runes and symbols of Lillien. After a short prayer and ritual, he went to the farm to find the Lemure. It didn’t take long. He found the Lemure lurking in a shed, and it attacked him immediately. He fought the lemure and managed to kill it. Upon delivering the killing blow, the silver blade broke and Casonetto found himself transported to some other land.
When he arrived he was immediately surrounded by violent weather. He had apparently arrived in the middle of a raging thunderstorm. The landscape itself seemed mostly barren and desolate. After he overcame his shock at being suddenly dropped into this wild land, he began his journey through it, looking for food and shelter. He did not find any, but realized later that he had gone several days without eating or sleeping. He also never saw the sun. During the “day” a sort of gray radiance emanated from the sky, allowing him to see the storm clouds, and at night the constant lightning provided further illumination. The whole time he was there, the storms were nearly constant. Violent weather was apparently the norm for this place. As he journeyed through this place, he passed rivers, streams, marshes, waterfalls, and even a frozen lake. However, the land itself seemes mostly barren and desolate. This land appeared to be an enormous expanse of wild terrain, and it was a constant turmoil of storms, howling winds, crashing waves, biting blizzards, and wild beasts(which didn’t bother him). However, after the first day he realized the weather wasn’t bothering him anymore. The very air was infused with a wild, chaotic energy that seemed to soak into his very being as he travelled through it. In fact, not only was the weather not bothering him, he began to feel invigorated and energized by it! Eventually, Casonetto came to a large mesa rising above a wide, flat area of land. A strange glow emanated from the top of the mesa, and Casonetto felt irresistably drawn to it. After some searching, he discovered a set of wide stone steps carved into the side of the mesa. After climbing the steps he reached the top of the mesa and the wild, chaotic energy he had felt before seemed especially concentrated in this place. He was met there by a strange, elf-like being with glowing eyes. Without any introduction, this being simply asked him if he wished to pledge his soul to Lillien, the goddess of water, chaos, and storms. Without hesitation, Casonetto agreed. This elven being then took a strange silver disk and pressed it into Casonetto’s chest. Mana coursed through his body as smoke rose from the disk. When the creature took the disk off, an elaborate symbol was emblazoned on Casonetto’s chest. At the images center was a vivid, three dimensional symbol of Lillien with a circular border. Around this was an image of a serpent swallowing its own tail, which was itself encircled by weird symbols and runes. Then the elf-creature said: “Now you are one of her favored, a cleric of Lillien. The mark upon your chest can never be removed or erased. The mark goes far deeper than flesh. It’s part of your being now- a holy symbol burned into your soul. You will only lose it if you stray from the path of the Storm Queen. Now look upon this land with new eyes.” Then Casonetto saw other beings on the top of the mesa with them. A few serpentine creatures floated through the air about 20 feet above the ground. Five other creatures of different shapes and sizes stood on the top of the mesa with them. Then the elf walked to edge and gestured to the land below. Casonteeo looked out upon the land below and saw countless creatures, of all different shapes and sizes assembling in vast hordes. Casonetto realized they had been there the whole time, watching him. The elven being said "They are creatures of Lillien, and each one is a small piece of the eternal storm. Now it’s time for you to return to the land you came from, and begin your work in the name of Lillien. You may pray for spells any time after you return. The elf then pointed to a shimmering portal, and Casonetto stepped through. He arrived at the sight where he had killed the lemure, and picked up the broken sword which was still laying there. Casonetto also placed in his pocket a small rock he had picked up in that strange land. Then he began his journey back to town. His clothing had returned to the way it was before he had left, but the strange symbol was still emblazoned on his chest. Later at an inn he reflected on all that had happened, and it was about two weeks later he joined the “Warriors of Recovery”.
