Bio
A native of the island of Corfu, a Venetian protectorate in the Ionian Sea, Ioannis Basilikos is a prosperous merchant living in Marseille; his two brothers live in Livorno and Candia, the trio forming a familial trading network between France, Tuscany, and the Venetian Empire.
Basilikos (b. 1596), the youngest of the three brothers, speaks Italian, Turkish, and Armenian in addition to Greek and French and serves as a translator for other merchants in Marseille. He is well regarded by the merchant community of the French port.
