The only daughter of the conte di Gronardo in Monferrato, Bianca Beccaria (b. 1608) was sent along with her brothers to the Savoyard court in 1624 to advance the interests of her family in the service of the duca di Savoia. Bianca was made a lady-in-waiting to the principessa di Piemonte and it’s said that a marriage to a Piedmontese nobleman is likely for the young woman.

Spirited and bright, Bianca’s sense of humor, along with their nearness in age, endears her to the principessa.
