Bio

Girolamo Bisato was born and raised in Pula, on the Dalmatian coast, the son of a Venetian bureaucrat. He followed in his father’s footsteps for a time, serving at the Venetian embassy in Constantinople, but he was sent home after just one year by the Sublime Porte for reasons Bisato does not disclose.

Returning to Venice, Bisato (b. 1592) joined the Banco del Giro in 1620; in 1624, he was dispatched to Marseille as the bank’s representative there.

Bisato has a taste for beautiful women, fine wine, and games of chance.
