Little is known of the bravo known as La Gautier prior to his appearance in Marseille, where he quickly earned a reputation as a duelist and sword-for-hire. Recently La Gautier attached himself to the libertine marquis d’Espard, protecting the marquis from those who would prey on the dissolute nobleman.

La Gautier is handsome, clean-shaven with tight blond curls worn short. He is unfailing well-groomed. La Gautier’s native tongue is Provençal, and his French contains a notable accent.
