Bio
The son of Gaston de La Marthonie, seigneur de La Marthonie, Raymond was named coadjutor to his uncle Henri, bishop of Limoges, in 1615; on Henri’s death in 1618, Raymond as named bishop.
After receiving the mitre, Raymond de La Marthonie instituted a series of reforms for both secular and regular clergy in the bishopric, to discourage heresy and instill a renewed spirit of dedication and service.
