Bio
A member of the sword noble Castellane family of Provence, Cyprien de Castellane (b. 1595) first served as a cadet in Savoy under the duc de Lesdiguières in 1617, and later saw action at Montpellier and Montauban in 1620 and 1621. When Lesdiguières was sent to Savoy again in 1625, Saint-Jurs raised a company of carabiniers, serving in a battalion under the command of the comte de Challons – in 1626, he assumed command of the battalion after Challons returned to France.
Saint-Jurs is a regular visitor to the court of the duc de Guise, when he is not on his estate near the Gorges de Verdon.
Saint-Jurs is married, with two sons and two daughters.
