Bio
Séguier is descended from a long line of magistrates and parlementaires; his grandfather and uncle were both presidents of the Parlement of Paris, the highest court in France, and his father was the civil lieutenant of the city of Paris. Born and raised in Paris by his uncle, Séguier (b. 1588) joined the royal court of requests in 1620, and from 1621 to 1624 he served as intendent of Guyenne in the midst of the war against the Huguenots. Late in 1624, he succeeded his uncle as a president of the Parlement de Paris.
Séguier is highly educated and possesses a formidable intellect.
