Voiture (b. 1597) is a young poet, a habitué of the Hôtel de Rambouillet, where he is regarded as much for his wit and his strong opinions as for his poetry and prose.

Voiture is a favorite of Monsieur, brother of King Louis XIII, and travels with him as part of the duke’s court.
