Born in a small farming and hunting village Lorn longed for more than the simple existence of his parents. Often found wandering the forest rather than helping in the fields, he is viewed a waste by the village. At the age of 10 while deep in the woods far from the village he was set upon by wandering thieves. Beaten for information about his village and coin he may be carrying, he refused to talk and give up his people to these ruffians. As the bandits prepared to kill him a blinding light flashed through the woods. Lorn fell to the ground and through bloodied and bruised eyes saw a man in brilliant robes wielding a staff, shooting flames from his hands. Finally the pain took him and Lorn passed out.
Upon waking, Lorn gently moved expecting the intense pain from the beating he received yet after a few test moves found there was no pain and all his wounds had been healed. The bandits lay about the clearing, burnt and unrecognizable as once being human. The robed man was nowhere to be seen. Not far from one of the corpses a book lay on the ground apparently dropped by mysterious savior. Picking it up Lorn felt a strange tingling surge through him and inside were the incantations of spells. This is what Lorn had been looking for in his life. Magic!
For 5 years he read and re-read the book of simple spells practicing them over and over. Every day he went to the woods and made simple files and lights dance. Away from the eyes of the village that feared magic and those that wielded it. He wanted more. Yet the more he secluded himself the more his peers bullied him for not being a skilled hunter like it father and brother. One day a group of boys cornered him pushing and punching him. Lorn tried to get away yet the anger built up until he grabbed the nearest boy and with no control sent lightning coursing through his body killing him on the spot. All fell silent as the body dropped to the ground. Lorn knew that everything had changed.
Running from the boys he went home and grabbed what he could carry, left a quick note to his parents apologizing for everything and ran from the village with no care of where he went as long as it was away. That day he vowed to never use his magic in anger. For 12 years Lorn wandered from town to town playing games of chance with the locals for gold bluffing and cheating his way through when he could. Dodging the law became second nature. Always trying to find a way to further his magic and make some coin, Lorn is always traveling with no home to go back to.
