Ville grew up in and orphanage with no knowledge of his parents. Caretakers were always wary and more distant with Ville than they were with the other orphans, for some reason.
Ville left the orphanage in his early teens to get started in exploring his innate magical ability, which he thought would give him some power over his own life finally. The instructor that he found was great for the first few years, but then became manipulative as his students approached adulthood. He used Ville and his other students to accumulate treasure and eliminate political rivals. Once Ville was older and more worldly, he and two of the other students rebelled and destroyed the instructor. This was a big deal because the instructor had by then risen to hold a prominent position in a major city’s government / court. He had powerful allies.
The instructor’s name was Ormus. The other students’ names were Alex and Leaf.
Ville stuck by his fellow ex-students while they were on the run, but eventually lost contact as they all began to run low on money and were forced to go their separate ways to figure out how to make a living.
After drifting for a few months, Ville used his talents to become an investigator for a very paranoid governor in a remote hold. Over the course of a couple years, his role became less and less one of investigation and more and more one of interrogator and torturer. Ville was unhappy with this, but accepted his role since everything else in his life seems to have turned dark in this way. After a difficult investigation which Ville couldn’t solve, the governor began to suspect Ville to be guilty of a coverup and ordered an assistant of Ville’s to assassinate him. The assistant, being loyal to Ville, warned Ville instead of killing him, so Ville fled for faraway lands. Ville is presumed to be dead by the governor… for now!
The governor’s name was Krudmorn, the loyal assistant’s name was Armstrong.
Ville went through another period of drifting and odd jobs, until he came upon a halfling in a tavern in Wickerwall, offering him gold and a chance for steady income.
