Abducted at the age of 11 during the Greyjoy rebellion Mia ran away from her capters and stowed away on a ship destined for Braavos. There she spent 7 years travelling with a troupe of street entertainers honing her acrobatic skills until Aemon found her and took her back to Blood Mountain.
