When he was very young the Jedi Order took interest in his skillful use of the force. It seemed to flow freely through him, which eve for a trained Jedi Knight is a difficult task. As the years went by he grew to embrace the light and most of its teachings. The one ideal that he could never fully understand or accept was the rule that Jedi were not allowed to fall in love, get married, and have a family. For the Jedi love led down the path to the Dark Side.

Soon Mal would find his will and discipline tested on the day he was to start training under Jedi Master Dylan Quinori. He wasn’t the only padawan to be trained by Master Quinori at the time. Taseen O’Sani, another promising young padawan, was to be trained under Master Quinori. Mal had never seen such a beautiful creature. His feelings for her grew as they trained together and he found himself enjoying the time they spent together after training than during. They grew very close over the years.

As his training went on Mal grew to love Taseen. He could tell that she too had similar feelings but had no way of approaching her about them because if it were found out that they loved each other they would either be thrown out of the order or they would be separated, which would be worse. One day Taseen asked Mal to meet her at a secret training ground that Master Quinori had been taking her to lately. He thought to himself that this was the one and only chance to tell her how he truly felt about her. Mal arrived to see Taseen waiting with her back to him. Something didn’t feel right. She wasn’t wearing her usual Jedi closk. She was wearing a scarlet red robe and she was crying. As he got closer she spun around, tackled him, and pinned him to the floor. She drew a knife from her belt and just said “I love you.” Then she slit his throat. Before sh walked away she took off her cloak and gently covered him with it.

The next day he woke up inside of one of the Bacta Tanks in the med bay of the Jedi Academy. He was found by a fellow padawan who was training out near the training ground. Questions were floating in his mind. Why did she do it? Where did she go? Why didn’t she cut deep enough to kill me? These questions and others would be answered when he found her.

Mal hoped that he will be able to bring her back from the Dark Side so that they can live there lives together away from the Jedi and Sith alike, in peace.
