Elias Ward: 31 Male Human. Former Alliance Fleet Communications Wave Array Sgt. ID#ESW-177-ST19

There comes a point in your life when you have to ask yourself the question, “Why am I here?”. You could turn that into a deep philosophical question, but for me it was more “Why the hell am I still in the service?”. Corruption is not reserved for just the smugglers and thieves that run out in the black. I joined the service to make a difference, to represent something, to show my allegiance. Instead I get countless runs through safe sectors, boring lectures on protocols that never change, and routine patrols buzzing for life signs, smugglers, and/or illegal activity. It is no wonder that so many of the smugglers stay ahead of the not so long arm of the law. If we had some of those budgets we might be able to do something. Countless hours of boredom allowed me ample opportunity to dissect my previous reasons for joining the fleet. In the end I was left with the nagging questions of, “Who are we to hunt these people down”? I served my time and left the fleet while I still had my sanity. I had become jaded and no longer believed in the fleet.

I tried to settle down and start a family. I moved to a colony out of the rich sectors and out to the rim. It worked for a few years till some shiny doc landed in town. Life has an odd way of making a new path for you. She took the kids and left me for that damn blue blood. They can all get dropped into the black for all I care. At first all I could do was crawl from saloon to saloon, drinking myself under the table with whatever tonic I could find. It was a crap way to go, but what did I care. Once I started running low on money, thats when things changed. I started offering my services to anyone who needed someone that could work with security and wave array equipment. It didn’t matter to me who needed the service or even if we came back alive. Just that they paid.

It took a couple jobs and started running with a crowd I once hunted down. All those countless patrols didn’t seem as useless when you are on the other side of it. The adrenaline shoots through your system harder than any drops might. Constantly on the lookout for the law, and those who might turn you in for the extra cash. I learned a lot in those years about life on the other side of the law. I learned even more about myself. When things go south, and you only have your crew to rely on….. I have lost friends, lovers, and family to the law, business partners, and blue blooded scum. So now I do what I have to do, just to get a thrill. I do things not because I want to or don’t want to, I do it for the story. Cause there is nothing better than a damn bang-up good story, especially if you manage to survive through it.

Interests: Security Systems, Safes, Explosives, Astral Navigation, Radio and other Forms of Communication Technology, Electronic Warfare, Hacking, Jamming.
