Gerald Nyaderemond

Archaeologist Brother of the CEO of Flexos

Gerald Nyaderemond

Description

Gerald always lived the shadow of his elder brother, Zos, not having the charisma, determination or extrovert nature to make it in the tough world of politics. Instead he was more interested in academia and the study of native art and archaeology.

He studied at the University of Collace where he was far from a star pupil – it was only his family’s wealth that kept him there for the full four years of the course and failed to graduate. Gerald was never one for lectures in any case, preferring to continue with the investigations that he had made of Flexos’ sprawling undercity when he was just a child and so he was very happy once his course was finished and he could return to Flexos in order to continue with his field work.

Gerald has now been studying the undercity for two decades and is the undisputed expert on the subject, having uncovered and translated more artworks than anyone else.

He continues to live in his brother’s shadow. He has never been that keen on selling off the artworks that he has uncovered, feeling that the artwork should remain on Flexos. He is too meek to argue this fact with his brother, however, who argues that the holocopies really aren’t so different from the originals and that the funds are vital in order to secure Flexos’s independence and to attract more settlers. Gerald is always tempted to bring up Zos’s lavish lifestyle at this point, but always thinks the better of it.

Overall though, he is happy that the finance is always available to mount another expedition into the undercity to continue his research and Zos gives him a fairly free rein to do what he wants where he wants as long as he comes back with a few new antiquities that will pay all of the bills with a little left over on top.

Gerald makes for excellent company due to his intellect and wit. Although no match for his brother’s negotiating techniques, he is a pretty shrewd bargainer in his own right and always gets the maximum amount possible for each artwork (due to the fact that he really doesn’t mind if the items get sold or not).
