Judge Tannin is an ancient elf who has been around since the early days of Cauldron. While a staunch proponent of Cauldron’s stance against capital punishment, he is very much an advocate of the various trials by elemental judgement. As such, he is a very difficult judge to convince (requiring two successful opposed diplomacy checks in a row to win a case). The result are a lot of tied decisions in Judge Tannin’s court. While Trial by Fire is a common outcome when Tannin is at the bench, he has also had a sizable number of Trial’s by Air. Incidentally, Judge Tannin’s courtroom is also a very popular proceeding to sit in on amongst the locals. There has never been a case resulting in a tie when Trial by Air has been invoked, much to Tannin’s chagrin. It is rumored Tannin has vowed to see at least one such tie before he dies so that he can preside over Cauldron’s first Trial by Water – a proceeding that has not been invented, yet.
