Bio

Vittorio was the third child and only son born to Cadoccian nobleman Benito Tornatore, a wealthy land owner and staunch Ecclesiarch. Benito, and the boy’s mother Crocetta, raised him in the custom befitting a boy of noble birth, no expense was spared.

Although Benito was driven mad by Vittorio’s preference to spend his days in the olive orchard with his sisters and mother, he was pleased the young boy had a knack and adoration for the art of fencing.

When Vittorio came of age he was sent to an Ecclesiarch school in Reme. Whilst in the capital, Vittorio witnessed first hand the terrible hypocrisy of the Ecclesiarchs and learned of the struggles of the opposing Johannites. This did not concern Vittorio too much though, as he was a wealthy nobleman’s son.

Upon graduation he entered the military as an officer, where his fencing skills were honed to perfection. Whilst in the military, Vittorio discovered the joys of drink and women. His dapper nature and superior fencing skills led him to believe he was irresistible to the opposite sex, while his cloistered upbringing and sense of entitlement suggested otherwise.

As an officer, Vittorio was stationed first in Adria, then he was sent to the front lines in Gerheim to support the Ecclesiarch army. He didn’t care much for battle so stayed as far away as he could from the fighting. Unfortunately for Vittorio, he found himself at the Siege of Bavantine. He was one of twelve men who had to defend a fort from over two hundred enemy soldiers until reinforcements could arrive. It was this baptism of fire that changed Vittorio into the man of action he is today.

It was during this period Vittorio’s eyes opened to the pointlessness of idealogical warfare. He didn’t know who was right, the Ecclesiarchy or the Johannites, and he didn’t much care. All he cared about were the innocent lives that were being destroyed. He vowed never to raise his sword for any cause other than his own, and he would only ever harm those who deserved it.

Upon returning home after his military service, Vittorio expressed these concerns to his parents, who were so shocked and appalled at his blasphemy, they disowned him.

Now with no money, no home and no status, Vittorio became a soldier of fortune, hiring out his impressive swordsmanship to the highest bidder. He had become accustomed to the creature comforts and sought after the most lucrative jobs, hoping to amass some wealth of his own. He figured, if you have to fight for something, fight for money.

Vittorio found his first major contract as a mercenary in Tyrrhenia fighting on behalf of the warlord of Argento during one of the countless internecine wars that rage there. It was here Vittorio met Brem O’Gellwyn. The two men-for-hire swathed a path of destruction, adulteration, petty-theft and drunken adventures across Cadoccia until they were suddenly separated when a battle unexpectedly turned against them and they were routed.
