The mysterious Kalarel is supposed to be re-opening the rift underneath Shadowfell Keep, and intends to feed the villagers of Winterhaven to the servants of Orcus. So, he’s not really a nice guy, is he? As far as the party knows, he is somewhere below the first level of the Keep.

And he was, where he was encountered and defeated by the party on 17 Sowing, 467 NE.
