World of Darkness
The Author is highly regarded as the Charles Dickens of the 21st Century. Each novel he brings out, nearly always, turns into a classic. His love for his fans is quite sweet, and he fulfills them with new books yearly. However, his private life has been a wonder to his fans and the media. Right now he sits locked in his study with his laptop, and it has been like this for months. He only comes out to eat. He declares, “This novel is gonna put all my others to shame.”
In his quest to write the best novel he can, he has forgotten two things, love and family. He has alienated them. His wife has put up with it for long enough, and has warned him over and over these past months. Now she has had enough, and decided to leave him! She leaves a note, but he doesn’t notice until the next day.
This destroyed him. He couldn’t write. He couldn’t eat. Even his great deal of money couldn’t help him find them. They simply disappeared. Now he can be found at a bar, drinking his sorrows into that ocean of whiskey dispair. Then a woman came, and said she was his biggest fan. He didn’t want that kind of company, but there was something odd about her. She was so willing to listen, and hear him. She seemed truly receptive to him.
Next thing he knew he found himself laying out everything that happened, right at her feet. She looked truly worried about him. She held out her hand, and offered to help him find them. She offered to give him back his gift of writing. What did he have to lose now? So he said yes to her, and yes to a role as the lead character in a world not even HE could dream up.
Kathlene Smithen was the name of the woman who offered him the new world. These nights she does her best to peak his excitement about the world around him. Pulling him from his ceaseless nights of writing, and dreaming of the day he can see his family again.
