The North of the Noredenwald Peninsula. Harsh. Wild. Peopled by the most fiercely individualistic and independent folk in all of Hesgran.
You find yourself in the Holds of the Free Lords, a confederation of free city states on the far nothern shore of the Noredenwald Peninsula. Truly the outer edge of civilization; indeed, some would say beyond the outer edge of civilization.
Great forces are at work in the Holds. Rodstaff the Good, Lord of Torkellr has finally accepted that if anyone can, he is the only one who can unify the Holds under a single government. Standing with him are Rodvik of Gardr, Krenik of Therelene, and Kelda Sorkvirsdottir of Vidr. Arrayed against him stand Brun Bladebreaker of Akri and Vlidigga the Bitch-Woman of Olafrodd. The Lords of Thigmulf, Varedulf, and Havlf remain neutral. Meanwhile, the Jarldom of Estragg to the East views the Holds with suspicion. The Lendmann of Buurte, and his liege lord, the Kaiser of Elriggen believe the Holds are in a state of rebellion, and seek to establish firm rule from the south, beyond the mountains. And to the Southwest, lies the shadowy realm of the Torframaour – a mysterious magical figure who has lived within the borders of his land for seven hundred years.
Into this stew of intrigue come the Companions. Some are exiles from another Prime Material Plane. Others are outcasts from one society or another on the Noredenwald Peninsula. Whatever their backgrounds, all have shed blood with and for each other, and all are fiercely committed to one another. Who can say how they will shape the Holds, the Noredenwald, and even the whole of Northern Hesgran?
