Welcome to the end of the world

It was foretold by every culture in every world in the universe. The sky would fall, the underworld would consume all. Some prophesied that it would end in fire, others said that it would be reborn as something better.

It was on a small planet in an inconsequential spiral galaxy where one being discovered the true form the end would take: Nothingness. Everything that had ever been, or would be, was to be wiped away. It would be as though the universe had never existed, and it was going to happen in roughly a year.
