Cheerful and upbeat, violence is a way of life for Maximian. He is not especially cruel and no one could say that he harbored hatred in his heart. From bear hugs to horseplay to brawling with a grin, Maximian relishes his physical strength and finds a vitality in its expression. Likewise, he is anxious to leap into the fray on the battlefield, wanting to prove his mettle against any foe the XXIII Legion faces. He is fond of taking trophies from those he defeats. He was made Pilus Prior shortly after earning the prestigious Corona Aurea for slaying a Chatti barbarian chieftain and holding the ground until reinforcements arrived.
