Bunny’s real name is Bernice Simonson who has the appearance of a 15 or 16 year old girl. Bunny has been around since 1980 as Freak’s companion and kindred in Portland. Few of Portland’s Kindred have ever heard her speak at all and when she does speak it is usually profound almost poetic. Bunny is truly a cutie,but not a stunning beauty. She possesses the body of an adolescent female with some baby fat,but despite her young appearance she is approaching 50.

In her early years,it was determined that she had an extremely high intelligence quotient,but Bunny’s social skills were retarded. If left alone she could figure things out and was able to read by the time she was 4. Bunny was painfully shy and was never able to mix with classmates-Her anxiety would go through the roof.She bordered on autism and would lash out if she felt cornered or pressured. She lacked confidence and could not learn in a traditional class setting. Teachers tended to neglect her more and more because of her lack of communication. Both parents were busy and left her increasingly in the care of neglectful nannies or baby-sitters.

Freak discovered Bunny at the mental hospital in Boise when she was being tested for brain lesions. No one could figure out why Bunny suddenly stopped talking and went catatonic. Freak found her one night on a hospital bed and for some reason Freak could get her to talk. He promised her eternal life…Bunny was fascinated by the dark fantasy world which Freak so vividly described.

It really felt nice when Freak kissed her neck that night in the hospital in Boise. The two fed to their full from the other patients on the ward. Bunny went with Freak and never looked back. For a time the two led a nomadic existence going from town to town or city to city sometimes staying a day sometimes staying months. Freak would put on shows,and people would give them money,and freak would bring a victim,so they both could feed. Freak blood bound Bunny.At other times, Freak would forget who Bunny was and attack her and beat her savagely. Sometimes he would bite her and nearly drain her almost dry-This happened on more than one occasion until the two became mutuallly bound to one another.Unlife was unpredictable,but at least she mattered.

In Salem,Freak forgot about her for almost a year and Bunny made her self a ghouled doggy. She was in the town square cutting herself with a knife when this huge stray dog came up to her and licked her hand with blood on it. From that time on,the dog never left her. She called him Puff or Puffer from the song “Puff the Magic Dragon”-a tune which Bunny hums to herself often. When Freak rediscovered her they went to Portland. Freak had lived in Portland on and off for a long while. He declared himself Primogen of the Portland Malkavians. Bunny was presented to Prince Hagen-He just shook his head disapprovingly just like so many teachers used to. In Salem she had learned to hunt for herself. Her sad mournful eyes and her child-like ways would naturally draw people to her. When she wore her short skirt men would come and try to “help” her,and she would whisper in their ear and would ask them to kiss her….

In Portland Freak found them a haven in the service tunnel under the Max tracks in the tunnel leading to the Sunset transit center. In the forest thereabouts,Bunny discovered a secret kingdom where everyone was beautiful and there was a castle with a beautiful queen accompanied by a retinue of knights who seemed to shine in the darkness. They spend their nights playing music,dancing and feasting. Bunny loves it there and goes secretly as often as she can. They gave her an outfit with pearls embroidered into it and they call her an ambassador. It is so much nicer there than at Elysium.

She knows of the Changeling Mr. Rufis. She would eventually like to invite him to high tea,but she feels too shy to do so,besides the Sluaugh are very particular about their tea and Bunny wants to make sure everything is just right. Then,of course, there is the baby Augusta to look after….Bunny found a baby after Freak accidentally exsanguinated the young mother. Bunny stayed behind-there was a baby of 8 weeks in a stroller…..She decided it would be fun to have a baby.
