Kathleen Dougal was born in Sequim which is located on the Olympic Penninsula of Washington on the 27th June 1987. Sequim is a rather remote area and as a child Kathleen had to learn to amuse herself as much as possible. She came to rely on herself quite a bit. In school she was an excellent student and excelled in math,science and computers. Her mother provided her a computer when she was a freshman in high school. She earned straight A’s and had an open scholarship to just about any university she wanted to attend. She chose to go to PSU so as to be close enough to her mother that it wouldn’t take any more than a day to reach her and far enough away,so she could not be immediately attainable and have a bit of autonomy.

She continued to perform with excellence at PSU. She majored in Computer Science and is fluent in most of the revelant computer languages,and she has learned to write code. She even began to make a few friends. Her best friend was Maelyn.Maelyn was able to get Kathleen away from her books and her computer and they would dress up and go to clubs to meet boys and to dance. Jeff is another friend. He is a punk rocker,computer geek and gamer. He met Kathleen at PSU’s computer lab and has a bit of a crush on her,but is too shy to say anything. The three get together and game once or twice a week,depending what is going on,either at Jeff’s Maelyn’s or Kathleen’s house-They would play Vampire the Masked,or Changeling-the Fantasy.

One evening Kathleen and Maelyn went to a popular club called Club Midnight. It was considered a very hip club and right away the two of them had a line of guys asking them to dance or buy them a drink.One in particular caught Kathleen’s fancy and Kathleen caught his fancy also-She could never remember. His name was Matthew Flattery. He seemed older somehow,even older than he looked which was in his late twenties. Matthew asked Kathleen to dance even though she was under age-no one at the club asked for her ID. He seemed more mature than the boys she had dated up to that point.

Matt asked about herself and seemed very interested that she was studying computer programming at school. He asked her very specific questions and she went on about the intricacies of the computer programming she was currently learning. She feared that it would engender the usual reaction the glazed eyes of boredom,but he listened with rapt attention and asked her how she would go about creating certain applications. Suddenly Matt asked if he could take her home. She blushed and nodded shyly. She didn’t quite know why she agreed to do this as it was very out of character for her,but she gave the keys to her VW bug to Maelyn and rode with Matt to a huge mansion in the West Hills. She found it difficult to believe it belonged to him.

They went inside to a room that looked more like a guest bedroom and Matt kissed her. The kiss went on and he began kissing and licking her neck. She almost told him to stop,but she was in ecstasy. She moaned loudly as Matt sank his fangs into her young neck and then she knew no more. When she was aware again,she was drinking Matthew’s vitae. It filled her with an inner fire. She never wanted it to end,but he pulled away-she thought she would cry. Matt told her that she was now Kindred and needed blood, or vitae as he called it to survive.

At first, Kathleen was very frightened. She knew that her life would never be the same. Matthew became very brusk with her and demanding. Matthew told her that the one who embraced him was the Prince of the city,Beatrice D’Anjou. She was told the reason that she was chosen to be embraced was because of her knowedge of computers. Matt told her that she was immortal now,but she must avoid the sun,fire,claws and fangs. She wondered what sort of world she had entered-it reminded her of the role playing game she Jeff and Maelyn played.

The following night after sleeping the sleep of the dead,she was presented to Beatrice of whom she was in complete awe and she was also introduced to Genevieve-the Primogen of the Ventrue. Beatrice told her of the camarilla traditions and about the noble history of Clan Ventrue-and told her that her domain and duty was the computer network of the Ventrue of Portland and to maintain their holdings remotely when needed. The Ventrue had state of the art equipment and she was told that she could have any system she required. As a Ventrue of Portland she was expected to know and live a by a certain set of traditions which both Matthew and Beatrice tested her almost continuously. She was told that she mustn’t tell anyone about what she was unless she got them under her control and both Beatrice and Matthew showed her different ways in which to do this. She wants to tell her friend Maelyn;though Maelyn knows that th3ere is something different about Kathleen. Kathleen has decided that she wants to ghoul Maelyn. She finds Jeff very attractive now,but not in the way he would want her to find him attractive…..

Kathleen’s haven is the Ventrue compound or estate wich has several houses upon it and the large mansion located in the West Hills. She is maintaining her apartment and letting Maelyn stay there rent free. She has a quad screeen and a very powerful and fast computer which can access multiple networks at once. Kathleen is still going to school and Prince Beatrice has requested that she continue to go to school to keep current with all the new computer technology. She naturally must attend night school,but Prince Beatrice said that she may hire private tutors or consultants if it proves necessary.

Kathleen’s motivations and goals are to learn as much as she can about her new form and the society in which she now belongs. She very much looks up to Beatrice and Genevieve,especially when she found out how old they are. She also respectrs Matthew and fears him. She has a bit of a crush on him despite how abrupt and stern he is with her. Kathleen sometimes hates him for what he has done to her. Her feelings are very mixed.

Kathleen Dougal is rather short. She stands only 5’ tall and has a slender build. She has ash blonde hair which is long when she first awakens but she sometimes cuts into a bob. She has large brown eyes and very long lashes,which are concealed by glasses she wears when reading or on the computer. She has sensuous lips and tends to bite the lower one when she is concentrating. She is more cute than beautiful. She has never had great fashion sense,but she is learning to improve this with the help of Genevieve,and Beatrice and Deidre when she was still existing.

Currently Kathleen is part of the harpy coterie. She acts more as a scribe than any sort of arbiter of good taste or raising and lowering status of Portland’s kindred. She wasn’t allowed to record Prestation on her lap-top computer-the kindred insist that she write everything by hand with a leaky pen in a bound sometime in the middle ages. Kathleen thinks it is silly,but she complies-as if she had any choice in the matter.

Update: In the attack on Elysium Kathleen was one of the two survivors due to her fortitude and quick thinking on her part;however she was grievously injured and inadvertently created the childe Paul Avery in a sanguinary frenzy. She managed to save the Book of Prestation much to the chagrin of some kindred
