He was Happy to Apprentice Under a Master Tattooist-Now He Spends Every Waking Moment Worrying About Damian's Safety
Chronicle: Portland By Night
Domitor: Damian Thorne
Amos Lewiston had a talent for art which he demonstrated at an early age. He drew obsessively as a boy,and it was hard to get him away from his pencils, crayons, paints, and pens to the point that he was held back in the second grade, because he still could not read;though he became quite good at copying letters, and formed his own style of calligraphy.
Eventually the drawing paper, paints, and colored pencils were taken away until he learned to read and write. Having his art supplies taken away motivated him. All in all Amos remained a mediocre if not poor student. He was hopeless at math, but geometry captured his interest for a moment. He never learned algebra. Eventually he dropped out of school during his junior year. By this time,Amos had begun to draw on people with fine pens. He drew very good pictures on demand. He then decided what he wanted to do with himself. He felt that he was destined to be a tattoo artist. He became obsessed with the idea. He read all the magazines and journals he could get a hold of,and studied the great tattoo artists. He was blown away by the works of Damian Thorn. He aspired to work and apprentice under Damian. He moved from Southern California to make it happen.
When Amos finally worked up the courage to apply with Damian,he found Damian distraught. Damian informed him that his girlfriend of several years had very recently passed away.He did consent to look at Amos’ work, and was impressed enough to offer him a job. He told Amos that he would have to learn piercing as well. Amos eagerly agreed. It seemed that his dreams were coming true. To celebrate the merger,Damian poured them both a glass of wine. They toasted their partnership. After he left Damian’s shop,he found he could not stop thinking about Damian-what was he doing? what was he thinking? He wondered how he was feeling.
The next evening Damian met him with a cup of coffee and the store’s stencil book and asked him to render the designs free hand and informed him that he would be timed. He drank the coffee and truly felt that he could not let Damian down. He worked very hard indeed and Damian seemed pleased with his work. Amos felt obsessed with the idea of pleasing Damian. He began to wonder whether he was gay-he felt he loved Damian. It was very strange.
On the third night,Damian approached him,and the appeal was irresistible. Damian took a small knife and cut his wrist and asked him to drink. Amos was happy to do so,but when he looked in the studio mirror he could barely believe what he was doing…. Drinking Damian’s blood! Damian explained to him what he was and that Damian needed blood to survive and he needed Amos to protect him during the day,and also at night in case something were to go wrong. The blood Damian gave him would make him stronger and he would age not at all.Damian said that he must keep this secret or he would be hunted and killed. Amos is still reeling from the information he has received-There is an entirely different world than what he had come to know. He sometimes asks himself whether he is dreaming all this. He worries about Damian constantly and would do anything to protect him and serve him.
Amos is tall 6’2" and skinny. He has long stringy hair. He is covered in tattoos-some are his own others are the works of friends. He would like to ask Damian if he could possibly include some of his originals to the stencil book.
