Bio
148 is the 148th of 150 warforged fighters created for a human wizard who was trying to establish a kingdom in the dark tunnels of the underdark. Even with all his arcane powers and his army of soldiers he was unable to survive. A yea and a few months after he established his stronghold band of Mind Flayers attacked killed him. Only 73 of the Warforged soldiers survived. The Mind Flayers took me and my fellow soldiers in, we were pleased to be given duties to perform and worked for the Mind Flayers to our best potential fighting off Drow and other hazards of the underdark for our new masters. We followed the Mind Flayers for 5 years through the lightless world of the underdark, then one day as they ventured closer to the surface world they Mind Flayers came across the end of a Dwarven mining tunnel.
Knowing the dwarves would posses many riches, and underestimating their determination to protect their home, the Mind Flayers planned an attack. It was, as all things Mind Flayers do, planned out well. We attacked early in the morning when there was only a skeletal crew at the mine. The dwarves were not caught completely without defenses, and at the start of the battle I was crushed when a wall was tripped to colapse and seal the tunnels from the upper city.
I lay under the rubble for weeks not knowing what happened to the Mind Flayers, the Dwarves, or the other Warforged. I was finally dug out by a band of dwarves coming to reclaim the mine shaft. My right arm, my sword arm, was crushed from the shoulder down beyond use, as was my left foot making me lame. Seeing I was not an immediate threat, the dwarves took me captive to gain any information out of me that they could, thinking that this band of Mind Flayers was the lead to a larger attack party.
I told them my tale and how I came to work for the Mind Flayers they dwarves did not believe me a first, but over time when no larger Mind Flayer attack came they slowly began to believe my story. It was almost 7 months before I could tell their feelings toward me had changed. A few younger dwarves came to speak to me more frequently, asking questions about my life. It was amazing to these young dwarves (45 years old on average) were amazed at how someone as young as me (6 years old at this time) had seen so much. They asked about the rune carved into my forehead, I told them it was a ghulra, a word that means truth in the Primordial and that mine meant 148, my creation number.
These young dwarves took such an interest in me that they looked into repairing my arm and foot. They used the materials from my recovered shield and sword to repair my foot, matching it to the rest of my body, but they had to reconstruct my right arm out new materials, the darker ore they had been mining in the tunnel I was found in. The look of my new arm was the same as my left arm, but on the shoulder plat they carved 148 in dwarven runes. I spent the rest of the year with these dwarves, and they helped me learn that I did not have to work for someone but I could pick my own path. On the day I left they presented me with stout dwarven made longsword, a shield with the symbol of Moradin, and an adventures pack.
