Requiem for the Firstborn

Welcome to the Dawn of Humanity

In the beginning, humans were slaves to the firstborn of creation, a vicious race of fantastic arcane power known as the Eldest. For their sins, the gods severed the powers of the Eldest, rendering them as weak as those they would call servants. Humanity rose up against their creators, driving them out of their vast empire and to their birthplace in the far north.

It is now the third generation since the Reckoning, the first to have never known the rule of the Eldest. Living is difficult and dangerous. While humanity retains a good deal of knowledge learned and stolen from their former masters, sixty years has not been enough time for them to actually build a civilization. With the land frozen in an ice age by some last spite of the Eldest, and their less-intelligent creations continuing to roam the wilds, Humanity’s progress is made more perilous still.

In this day and age, the greatest and most influential men and women are they who can build and protect a settlement. So far, the easiest way to achieve this is to take and hold one of the abandoned Eldest outposts. This is the aspiration of most adventurers; while several of the large cities have been populated, there are innumerable outposts, fortresses, and settlements that have yet to see a long-term human lord.
