As a young dwarf, Melker Haldis was always inspired by the teamwork and camaraderie the twin gods of his home, Emberholm, embodied. He spent his days in learning and contemplation while exploring the streets and outer tunnels of the subterranean city. It was natural for him, upon his coming of age, to join the priesthood. He devoted his life to the service of Ildri, having always loved dreaming while gazing into her fires in the hearths and forges of Emberholm. The more he learned, the more Melker realized a quiet life of pious service and civic pride wasn’t what he wanted. He longed for the brotherhood and nobility that came with adventuring with his fellow dwarves, and to bring that harmony and glory back to the people and city he loved.
Thus Melker explored the underground world near his home, bringing the cleansing flames of Ildri to the foes of Emberholm. He and his comrades defeated and foiled every enemy of Dwarvenkind that dared to cross his path, from the long-feuded Drow to the foulest monstrosities under the earth. Even the evil greedy dragons that sought to tunnel down from the mountains above fell to their cleansing flame. The tales of his exploits, along with the spoils of his victories, earned him a small portion of fame among his own.
