Check out Howard Barclay’s Character Page
Howard Barclay, the son of Daniel and Agnes Barclay, was born in 1953 in Dukelow Kansas. Howard spent his school years working his parents dairy farm, going to school and courting his highschool sweetheart Candy Newbach. In 1971 Howard volunteered for service choosing the Navy to follow in his fathers footsteps. In 1973 he married Candy and they had their first child, Howard Jr. Very soon after boot camp the navy discovered Howard’s excellent skills with machinery of all kinds and he spent 12 years working his way up the chain until he was the chief engine specialist aboard the carrier Kitty Hawk. At 20 years Howard was not sure what he wanted to do so he re-upped for one more tour of duty. During that tour Howard was tagged on a short list of engineers that Disney was going to headhunt to man their newly commissioned cruise liners that were going to start construction in Italy in 1995. In 1995 Howard retired from the Navy and went to work for Disney, moving his family to Italy for 4 years while he worked in the Fincantieri shipyards helping build the ships Disney Wonder and Magic from the keel up, concentrating mainly on the engineering departments. For the next 18 years Howard spent his time working as the chief engineering officer for the Disney Wonder moving from coast to coast following his ships’ home port of call. He is looking forward to spending the last two years of his time with Disney working out of Barcelona Spain when the Wonder makes that its main port of departure. Howard has 6 children, 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The near future holds a very exciting time when his whole family will be shipping out on the Disney Magic to celebrate Howard and Candy’s 40th wedding anniversary. Howards brother Walter is funding the whole trip, sparing no expense. There is no doubt that this will be a family vacation to remember.
