Pearl of Friendship
The personal communicators of the Greymantle Family
Description
Pearl of Friendship, a large pearl set in a pendant for wearing around the neck, worth at least 2,000 GP. One of six identical pearls in a set, when worn, the wearer can communicate with any other wearer of a pendant set as per the Rary’s Telepathic Bond spell. If the holder is in a natural body of sea water, or under moonlight, then there is no limit to how often the pearl can communicate; otherwise it requires a DC 25 concentration check and is limited to using once per day for a maximum five minutes.
Once per month, with the light of the full moon reflected off the sea or a lake, each pearl can attempt to summon the holders of the other pearls. Each of the other Pearl holders will feel the summons and who is doing the summoning. If the other holders of the pearls are also in the light of the same moon, they can then teleport to the summoner as Greater Teleport if they so choose.
The pearls work underwater, but unfortunately do not work underground or under heavy cloud cover.
In dire emergencies, a pearl can be smashed in a desperate attempt to summon another pearl holder with a Greater Teleport. This use may even work underground.
Backstory
Two of the pearls from this set are worn by the Greymantle sisters, Ruka, and Maya. Two pearls are believed to be in the possession of Ruka’s mother and father. One of the remaining pearls was gifted by Vestiralana to a Wizard named Glolindir and its current location is unknown. Another pearl was taken from Ves when she was a captive aboard the Storm Hammer airship, and is believed to be in the possession of the Princess Anya of Lanfor or one of her retinue.
