Definitely want to see new worlds.

My character likes to be away from her world. It’s too stressful. Although she has fairly strong ethics, she loves the freedom flying gives her. She worked at being a top flier because it was her passion and she felt in control of her life. Whereas she often felt out of control growing up. With a low social standing in a politically charged world, flying gives her the freedom to get away and above all that. Even if it doesn’t increase her social standing per se it gives her credos amongst her mates and that’s what’s important to her. Also, with her low social status, there hadn’t been much chance of a different type of job. Her parents were merchants and so she followed in their footsteps. She has no issues about it as it led to flying and that’s been a great foil to an otherwise possibly quiet life. Now that she has her own ship, with help from her family who’ve done fairly well recently and who saw that although she missed out on a few chances it wasn’t due to lack of working hard, she’s really excited and raring to go.

So, she’s excited. Ready to explore, but has some responsibility as she has to pay the running of the ship. So, she wants some opportunities to travel and to make money as she does it. She possibly sees the pseudo-noble as a good person to have in a fix. Being in a frontier area and close to possible ‘enemy’ territory at times, we could get into trouble and he’d be good to get us out of it. Both of her friends will have good contacts and know a range of people that can get us jobs and opportunities.
