Starport Guide / Retired Scout (Exploration Branch, Analysis Division, Team Leader R5)
Owner of two Beaked Monkeys (Psittarhynchus fructophagii)
Introduced to the party at Regina Highport by Rey Galadden, Senior Scout Administrator at Regina Scout Base
Offers tours of the Downport & Startown. She has no end of stories of the history & architecture of their older parts and what they are built over. More useful, she can point you in the direction of the best bars and generally give you enough introductions to get a 10% discount on almost everything.
A spry, lively woman for all her age and obvious frailty, making a modest living as a tour guide. Olleneg has a wealth of stories, not just concerning her role as a guide, but about her own past in the Exploration Branch of the IISS. She lives with her two Beakers (Beaked Monkeys) in a small apartment on the edge of Startown, where she is obviously well-liked and respected by traders, port personnel and starcrew alike.
“I found out early on, you know, you should never assume there’s nothing of interest in a place, no matter what it looks like, no matter what anyone tells you; you look hard enough and long enough, you’ll find out something worth knowing.”
“Did I tell you about the time our flare shielding failed? In Exploration, see, you’re often out there in the black, just you and your crew; help could be months away. In the Lesser Rift, we were, still in the jump shadow of a system’s primary – it was awful, I was blind, completely blind for weeks before they could get me any treatment.”
“Ah, Rey Galadden, yes – silly boy. Got himself in a bit of bother didn’t he? Stranded! Lucky for him we came along when we did. So long ago, now…”
“Named a system after me, they did! Out there in the Lesser Rift. It was me spotted it on the sensors, there where no one must’ve looked before, so they named it Agate! Made me quite notorious for a while, that did.”
“Oh dear, then there was the time we had a reactor leak; some of the old jalopies they used to give us, tsk! Shocking, it was. Yes, I’ve had my share of excitement, I can tell you!”
“No, dear, I’m on my own now, since my Wayland passed on. Just me and the Beakers now, it is. They’re my company now.”
