The Dragoon is the illegitimate son of the Baron of the Vale, the half-brother to the soon-to-be Baroness, as well as the step-brother of The Bastard himself. The Dragoon trained from a young age to join the cavalry with the hopes of one day legitimizing his birth by attaining a knighthood. When he turned eighteen, he joined the Free Legion, taking with him his magebred mare Ember. However, he was shamed by not being admitted to a Lance, and was instead made a dragoon in the Free Legion, a considerably less honorable role than a gendarme. While stationed as a peacekeeper in Frostreach, the Duke Ehrenfried sends the Dragoon and his contubernium to help the Baron of the Vale to fight against the Gallowglass company.
