Born in the small settlement of Woodhelm, Breogan was raised cutting timber, like his father, his grandfather, and generations before them. Growing up as a logger and woodsman, and the forays into monster infested Droam, he found himself skilled with sharp steel in his hands as well as in tune with the ways of the forest. The day he came of age he joined the town’s militia, and though they rarely had cause to defend, they had plenty of time to practice. Breogan soon found himself skilled in combat, and at the age of eighteen, was the favorite to bet on when the men gathered to duel. One night, Woodhelm was attacked by a raiding party of orcs that stumbled across the town. They were met by the soldiers and the militia, and Breogan eagerly waded into the fray with his grandather’s oversized blade, anxious for his first taste of battle. After cleaving several foe down , Breogan fell.
After the battle, several of the soldiers that had witnessed Breogan in battle dragged him and his broken sword, to the Shrine of the Silver Flame(the faith to which they were loyal.) They told the priest of the young mans exploits, insisting his natural ability in battle made him of use to the Silver Flame. Sensing something himself, the priest obliged, raising Breogan up once more. Before he did, he told the soldiers present it was only because the Flame had a greater purpose for him, and that his mission on this world was far from over. After his recovery, the soldiers relayed this to Breogan, who had never been one to place his faith in anything but himself. Yet, after such a miracle as a second chance at life, he felt obligated to repay the blood debt, as he saw it, to the mystical Silver Flame.
