Akta is an agent of the Heavenly Eye, a secret society devoted (as far as Akta knows) to the advancement of the knowledge, ideals, and powers of the star pact warlocks in the Tiefling lands. The secrets of the Heavenly Eye are shared with initiates only as they progress through the ranks of the society, but Akta believes that members of the Eye secretly control the highest levels of Tiefling government. The Heavenly Eye has dispatched Akta to investigate the recent events in the vicinity of Arandale. She has undertaken covert missions for the society before, but this is her most important assignment to date. She thinks that success in this investigation may lead to promotion within the ranks of the Heavenly eye and her chance to learn more of the society’s secret knowledge. Because Akta’s wisdom is much lower than her intelligence, it has not yet occurred to her that the identities and motivations of the leaders of the Heavenly Eye might not be what she imagines them to be.
