Shared Creations

Notation/Description

It seems like some of these pages could use a bit of an introduction or something to put them in context. For example, the Links page; on the actual page itself there could be a line at the top reminding people that those links go off-site, and therefore are not Obsidian Portal related (I know, I know, most of us probably don’t need that) – I’m sure there are plenty of people who will go through there and either mind-blank on that or something.

Also, can we get a stub to better outline the design goals here? I have an idea to put up a bunch of character templates, and am unsure whether they would better go under the characters section, or as wikis.

I’ll work up some further design elements on paper to help with navigation and such. I try very hard to use the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) method for the creation of content here, so I’m attempting to not make it too complicated to navigate.

I’ll see about doing a wiki on how to format content for posting. I’m not using a lot of textile/html in the basic pages, and whatever a person posts can contain as much or as little coding as they choose (ie, Rase’s Combat Actions). As the lists start to grow, I’ll move them to their own wiki pages and in time the main wiki will organically morph into a table of contents page (that’s the idea, anyway).

If by character templates you’re referring to NPC’s people can use in their quests, they should go in the Characters section. I know you’ve voiced concerns about players stumbling across this and getting some foresight on an NPC, but it’s likely that a GM will change the name and tweak the content of a character to for use in their campaign. Also, as it is well established in the forums, most PLAYERS don’t utilize OP as much as they should, so there’s really little danger in them finding inside information.

That being said, I will add a header tag so we can slug newly created NPC’s on the main page once there is one created.

Cool! Definitely liking your version of KISS btw – and completely agreed. Also liking where you’re goin’ with the main page; that’s exactly what I was thinkin’! (especially with the inevitable list of variant house rules and things of that nature).

I threw up an (unfinished) example of what I meant by a character template, but it looks like I posted it when I was half-asleep; sorry about that. I think I’ll switch it over to a character format, as that will be more in line with what I was planning; but I’ll leave up the over-arching Wiki page as an organizational tool.

Thanks again for hosting this ‘campaign’!
