Description

Dire wolves are efficient pack hunters that will kill anything they can catch. Dire wolves are mottled gray or black, about 9 feet long and weigh some 800 pounds.

Northern dire wolves are found in the Northeastern region of the continent; primarily in the mountainous region of Mulgaria, and on the north and east outskirts of the Great Veil in Ytaerreth. They are slightly larger than other types of dire wolves, and are particularly aggressive. Traveling in packs of 8-10, and able to go many days without eating, it is not unheard of for a group of northern dire wolves to stalk prey for days, or depending on the scarcity of food, even a week or longer at a time before making a kill. The only time a northern dire wolf is not active in hunting is when the mothers are rearing their young, which only happens about once in a decade for any particular bitch.
