Age: 32
Background: After graduating from high school, young Michael hadn’t made any plans for going to college or finding a permanent job. Michael’s overbearing father bullied him into joining the U.S. Army. Telling his son that: “..they would make a man out of him”. By no means was he happy as a new recruit, still Michael being fairly athletic adapted better than most of the personnel in his platoon. However, he was truly miserable once he was shipped out overseas and he only put in the minimum active duty enlistment period of four years. Once returning home he spoke to his mother about his decision to enter into the priesthood, overjoyed she gave him her blessing. After seven years of fulfilling his combined courses and requirements in theological studies at both the university and seminary, he was assigned as novice curate under Father Charles Duddleswell, veteran parish priest of St. Jude Church. Over the next few years Michael was genuinely contented with his life for the first time ever through his service as the novice curate of St. Jude’s parish. Until very recently, on his way back to his beloved cathedral, after a short vacation to visit an old army buddy, his car breaks down. Unable to reach AAA for some reason and his cell phone already down to half a charge.
