Following the Clone Wars, Shysa was pressured into accepting the title of vacant title of Mand’alor following the death of Mand’alor the Resurrector. Shysa reluctantly accepted this offer, and promply oversaw the re-integration of the pacifist New Mandalorians into mainstream Mandalorian culture, though only with a pledge to the New Mandalorians and their leader the Duchess Satine that Shysa would not instigate any new conflicts for at least an entire generation. This integration has proven highly controversial to many Mandalorians who considered the pacifist faction to be unworthy even of the name Mandalorian. Many of Shysa’s enemies from took to calling him “Mand’alor the Uniter” as an insult as a result, a name Shysa rejects entirely.
Following the end of the Clone Wars, a young Renegade female Mandalorian who lived under the pacifist New Mandalorians rebelled against Shysa’s leadership and began waging a small war against Imperial targets in the galactic south. With a growing group of followers who believed in the renegade’s warlike vision and outlook, Shysa ordered the threat terminated before her actions were used as a justification by the Empire to all out occupy Mandalorian space, something Shysa feared would fracture and splinter Mandalorian culture for centuries.
