Elkis was on Dac when the Empire attacked and ended up trapped under a collapsed building with severe head trauma for several days, but somehow survived. Rath found him during his rescue operation before The Tantive IV left the system and kept him alive long enough to get medical treatment. Elkis chose to not get a cybereye as he felt the damage would be a reminder to him and others why they fight The Empire.

Elkis volunteered to be the chief engineer of The Bennu’s life support as he had been building the systems for the MC-80 starcruisers for some time and wanted a position in the field where his skills would be put to good use.

Elkis likes the Alderaan Lounge and otherwise spends time with the other amphibious or aquatic species on the ship.
