Spark Imbued Weapons
The seniors and facilty of The Heliogabulus Academy of the Arcane Order have discovered a method to imbue weapons with a ‘spark’ of essence from a very small lightning elemental. These wespons must be imbued during thunderstorms when the veil between Toril and the elemental plane of lightning is at it’s weakest.
Everytime the weapon hits it causes an additional +1d4 electrical damage to the target hit.
If the weapon’s buisness end (like the blade) is held against a creature it takes 1 electrical damage per round. Combustable items can catch fire from the sparks if touched in this way. The change of combustables igniting is 1 in 6 per round, raise the chance to 2 or 3 in 6 if the item is especially combustable such as hay. If the weapon is sheathed the ‘sparking’ effect lays dormant and does not harm the weapon owner or anyone else in such a state.
If the weilder of the weapon rolls a 1 or 20 on his to hit dice roll then roll a d20 on the appropriate chart.
1 Escape. The tiny lightning elemental imbued inside the weapon escapes in a spectacular dispay of blinding light and exploding sparks! Everyone within line of sight of the weapon must make a save (Fort DC 12) or be blinded for 1d4 rounds. Rolling a 1 on the save indicates a more lasting blindness. The weilder of the weapon sustains 6d4 electrical damage, save for half (Ref DC 12). Anyone within 5’ sustains half that amount of damage and anyone within 10’ sustains a quater of the damage, saves apply for half that amount. The weapon becomes a normal masterwork weapon with no more magical powers.
2-4 Potent Backlash. Weilder takes 2d4 electrical damage. Everyone within 10’ takes 1d4 eclectrical damage. Target takes damage as normal, including the 1d4 electrical.
5-15 Backlash. Weilder takes 2d4 electrical damage. Target takes damage as normal, including the 1d4 electrical.
16-19 Shock. Weilder takes 1d4 electrical damage. Target takes damage as normal, including the 1d4 electrical.
20 Tingle. Weilder takes 1 point electrical damage. Target takes damage as normal, including the 1d4 electrical.
