Welcome to the Kingdom of Kedri!
Kedri is one of the richest and most influential kingdoms in the region. Ruled by the apparently immortal God-King Hyap, Kedri has been stable and without internal strife for over 2000 years. The major threats to the Kingdom are the sorcerous desert empire of Zammhu and their beastmen slaves to the northeast, and the savage demon-worshipping cannibals of Marbiria to the east. Kedri has nominal peace treaties with the dwarves of Dohvanon to the north, and the Kamionite nomads to the south.
The kingdom is divided into four Archonates, three ruled by blessed Archons of the God-King, and one held directly by him in fief. The holy capital of Amo is located straddling the banks of the river bearing its name in the central regions of Kedri, also known as the Archonate of Hyap. The Archonate of Nivram lies along the northern border, Resti holds the western borders, and Sindam holds the east.
The Archonate of Sindam is one of the largest Archonates, second only to Hyap, but it is by far the poorest. Archon Sindam rules from his capital, the port city of Kiet, on the northern coast of his Archonate, and rarely steps outside of his palace. A line of border forts runs from the coast down to the Kamio border, well garrisoned but frequently besieged by ravening hordes from Marbiria. The peasantry of Sindam stay close to the border forts or close to Kiet, refusing to risk death in the heavily forested hills and mountains. As a result, the areas east of the border forts have become infested with beastmen, savages, bandits, and sorcerous creations of all ilks, and the areas supposedly protected by the Forts are often no better.
After last year’s Festival of Rebirth, the God-King pronounced that the Archonate of Sindam must be tamed, and offered rich rewards for any who could carve new Satraps from the lawless lands. Adventurers have come from all over to stake their claims, from outcasts of the xenophobic Elven kingdom of Narredek and the war-forged dwarven vault-guards of Dohvanon, to the hearty barbarian tribes of Khem and the noble Horseclans of Kamio, and even a few of the black-skinned tribesmen from the swamps of Akir. You have all gathered in Fort Erre, your last civilized stop before striking east into the forests, and together formed an Adventuring Band. Your last step is to seek rumors that will lead you to lairs or campsites that you can purge and plunder.
