Turn 105: Hero Of Our Complex

Phil-R says, “As he approaches the other troubleshooters one holds out his hand in greeting and inquires about his name.” Phil-R glances at his sock encased hand and asks it, “Phil-R I presume?” He then continues saying, “He turns Mr. Sock to face Dean-O and speaks his response.” Turning the sock puppet to face Dean-O, Phil-R responds in a high pitched voice, manipulating the sock to speak for him. “Why hello there friend troubleshooter! I am Phil-R, Hero of Our Complex!” He continues as he puts action to his words, “He then grins happily at the other man as he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a certificate which he displays proudly.”

Dean-O continues to hold out his left hand expectantly and asks, “You’re our new Equipment officer?”

Phil-R looks at Mr. Sock and asks the puppet, “You’re our new Equipment officer?” ‘Mr. Sock’ responds, “Yes, I’m the new Equipment Officer!”

Dean-O says, “Here you are, then,” and hands over two RED Laser Pistol Barrels and a barrelless laser pistol. He then continues, “And… ah… I see you have an assistant?”

Right about then Isaac-O enters the room and makes his way over to Dean-O. He asks him, “Would you be so kind as to clearly state what your orders regarding Quentin-R were?”

Turn 104: BOOM Splat!

Phil-R starts toward the other two troubleshooters, saying, “Startled by the sudden blare of sound from the cubicles, Phil-R cautiously makes his way towards where it originated from, darting Mr.Sock in and out of cubicles as he passes as if to inspect their contents.”

[What’s that? ... He did WHAT!? Well what are you waiting for? Roll back the delay a few seconds and switch cameras!] {OOG: To the ‘Confession Crew’: Yes, I realize that the first bit of the following is from last turn, it’s just the ‘delay’ being rolled back}

The scene changes to the confession booth hallway, where Isaac-O, Roy-R, and Quentin-R are still arguing.

Quentin-R is saying to Isaac-O, ”...confess having a sub-standard barrel attached to your gun.”

Instead of responding directly, Isaac-O turns to Roy-R, “Roy-R, The Computer is obviously expecting us to do as our team leader instructed and take him to a termination facility. You remember that order don’t you?”

“Well…” Roy-R pauses in thought for a moment. “I thought I heard thomething about ‘terminathion booth’ but I didn’t want to put wordth in our Team Leader’th mouth.”

Quentin-R shakes his head sadly and begins, “I’m afraid both of you clo…” but he is interrupted as Isaac-O apparently decides that further discussion is now closed.

“MUTIE SIR!” He yells, bringing his pistol so close to Quentin-R that it actually shoves him a little, “Follow proper protocol or there is an error at statement seventeen!” and he pulls the trigger.

{Ok, folks, PP spending? Max? 10 PP? Ok. Elm? 2 PP? Alright. Phial? No, there’s not a maximum… 20? Are you sure? oooooook… (clatterclatterclatter… 20) Oh boy… Let’s see… adjusting for PP… accounting for the cracked barrel…}

There’s not even any warning beeps from the laser barrel to indicate the malfunction. There is an explosion and the current camera goes black. Another camera, apparently mounted further down the hallway, kicks in and shows the scene from further away. There is a lot of smoke that fills the area. As the smoke clears, all that’s left of the troubleshooters are three severely charred corpses in the end of a hallway.

[Hmm… Well, I guess that’s that. Might as well switch back to the others now.]

The camera view changes back to show Phil-R approaching Dean-O and Aken-R. Dean-O says, “Phil-R, I presume? I’m Dean-O, pleased to meet you.” He puts out his left hand for Phil-R to shake.

Turn 103: Introducing Mr. Sock

Dean-O follows the string back to Aken-R and asks, “Found anything? Who would’ve had a good view of the closet?”

Aken-R shrugs and says “No one.” He gestures at the surrounding cubicles. All of the cubicles that might have had a view of the supply closet are empty. It looks as if none of them have been assigned to any workers.

At the entrance to the room, Phil-R stops a the entrance, looking around. He says, “Phil-R-XYZ strolls into the room and stops just inside it. Phil-R-XYZ smiles and pulls out a red sock from his pocket which he pulls over his left hand,” and puts action to his words, pulling out a RED sock and pulling it over his left hand to form a RED sock puppet. He then makes the puppet ‘talk’ as he says in a strained, high-pitched, cracking voice, “Hello? Fellow troubleshooters?” His voice then returns to normal and he continues, “As he tried to peer above the maze of cubicles he spoke with the aid of Mr. Sock, manipulating it in such a way that it appeared to be speaking. After his greeting he did his best to make the sock appear to be grinning happily, just as Phil was.”

Dean-O looks at Aken-R. “Is… is he serious?”

Aken-R shrugs and whips out his Bullhorn and points it in Phil-R’s general direction. “Over here, citizen!“

Turn 102: What? No Smoking Boots!?

Roy-R immediately pulls out his PDC and checks the newly arrived message.

Isaac-O turns to Quentin-R and asks, “So, assuming you actually did confess to it, what sanction did Friend Computer issue for your unprovoked slaying of Roy-R?” He pauses only briefly before continuing, “And what was that business about 1400 Credits and owing Friend Computer a favour?”

Quentin-R stands up and steps out of the confession booth and responds, while checking his own PDC, “I believe, mutie, that what is said in confession stays in confession. So, be so kind as to summon an elevator, and let us return to the mission post haste, I’m eager to catch this killer for Friend Computer!” He then shuffles over to the lift and waits for someone else to press the button.

Isaac-O doesn’t look entirely satisfied with Quentin-R’s response and says, “Well that’s all well and good but I could have swore we were supposed to be escorting you to a termination booth. Sorry for the inconvenience. Lets get a move on.” Then he adds as he pulls out his own PDC and starts doing something with it, “And that’s Mutie, Sir. Perhaps you would now like to confess to your complete disregard for the clearance system. Now chin up and be happy. It’s mandatory.”

Roy-R looks up from his PDC. “The Computer let you live?” he asks in a surprised tone, “I don’t even get thome thort of apology for the death of my previouth clone?” He shakes his head momentarily before returning his PDC to its proper pocket.

The view of the hallway cuts out and Bill-B’s image appears on the screen.

“Hey there, Team and Viewing Audience! Great News! Your new Equipment Officer is approaching as I speak! Let me introduce, straight from Power Services firm, Volts-R-Us, and a previous winner of the coveted Hero of Our Complex award, it’s Phiiiiiiil-R-XYZ!”

A loud round of canned applause issues briefly as the camera switches back to the office block. Dean-O is just coming out of the emerging from the supply closet and is looking around at all the surrounding cubicles while Aken-R goes from cubicle to cubicle with a string played out between himself and the closet door.

A squat pudgy man with a bad comb over and large conspicuous ears enters from the direction of the lift and starts looking around the room.

Turn 101: Line of Sight

Dean-O watches Hayate-R leave and says, “I’ll miss that strange little man. And I’m not mutie-sir. That’s Isaac-O. Oh, well. Back to it.”

He stashes away the stuff Hayate-R gave him. He then hands Aken-R a ball of string and tells him, “Go over there, and see which of those cubicles has the best line of sight on the closet.”

Aken-R salutes and moves away toward the cubicles, playing out the string behind him.

The door to the supply closet closes and Dean-O is nowhere to be seen.

[What? Where’d he go? In the closet? Well switch to the camera in there and see what he’s… what do you mean there’s no camera in there… Fine… um…. switch to the other group. See if they’re doing anything interesting…]

The trio of Isaac-O, Quentin-R, and Roy-R emerge from a lift into a somewhat darker and slightly dirtier than standard hallway with several open doors lining the walls, each with a light over the door. Each door leads into a tiny room just large enough for one clone to sit on a small seat in front of a screen.

Quentin-R strolls happily into the first available booth, and the door shuts behind him. The light above the door turns on and shines RED.

Isaac-O and Roy-R stand in the hallway outside, waiting for Quentin-R to either emerge or for the empty confession booth door to open. Isaac-O turns to Roy-R and says, “Hey Roy! Nice crack with the PLC Spackle Substitute! What do you think the chances of Quentin coming back out are?”

Roy-R snarls and answers, “Thlim to none. I hope Friend Computer frieth the little pthycho thlowly.”

After another minute, the door to the confession booth opens in time for the pair to hear Quentin-R say, “So, that’s 1,400 credits? Say, let’s call it 1,200 and I’ll owe you a favour huh? After all, I gotta be able to buy snacks and drinks for my fellow team mates, to keep them happy on camera….”

Friend Computer, however, is apparently done with him or is in no mood to negotiate as his only answer is silence and an empty screen.

Quentin-R and Roy-R’s PDCs each give a soft beep.

Turn 100: So Long Hayate!

Dean-O tries to peer around Aken-R’s bulk to see into the supply closet and asks, “Have you found any Clues yet?”

Aken-R scratches his head and shrugs, “No mutie-sir. Just looks like a supply closet to me, mutie-sir.” He steps to one side to allow Dean-O to see into the supply closet. It looks like a well-stocked supply closet. There are a variety of office supplies filling the shelves. It looks large enough for three clones to stand inside comfortably. Four or five, if they’re feeling particularly close.

There are no obvious signs that this was a recent murder scene.

Suddenly, Bill-B’s face appears on the nearest wall-mounted monitor.

“Hey, team! How’s it going? As I’m sure you’re aware, we take randomly timed polls of the viewing audience where the loyal viewers at home get to vote on their favorite Troubleshooters. The one with the least votes is pulled off the team. Well, team, the audience votes are in, so I’m here to announce to you the audience pick for least favorite troubleshooter. And the loser is…“

There is a dramatic pause and drumroll.

“Hayate-R-GTK!!! You’re OFF the team! Until your replacement arrives, our Team Leader, Dean-O, will take over your duties as Equipment Officer. You will now hand over all assigned equipment to him and return to your normal job at Elucidated Brotherhood of the Bleeding Edge. Well, team, until next time, This is Bill-B-WRC saying,“

An unseen audience joins in as Bill-B says, “Stay Alert! Trust No One! Keep Your Laser Handy! Thank you, and good nightcycle!”

As Bill-B’s image vanishes, Hayate-R bows low to Dean-O and Aken-R in turn, hands a barrelless pistol, and two RED barrels to Dean-O. “Thosu aru arru equripmentu I wasu assignud foru thisu mission: two barrus andu Quentin-aru’s pisturu. Itu hasu been an honoru, ” he says and bows low once more and walks away.

Turn 099: Just Like Tella-O, Only Not

As the team approaches the supply closet, Dean-O says, “I think we should try to reconstruct the scene like they do on that show, Teela-O-MLY Solves Crimes By Reconstructing The Scene. Aken-R, pretend you’re Teela-O pretending to be Larry-R, going to get some stationary. Hayate-R… um… pretend to be… er… some stationary.”

Aken-R obediently opens the door to the closet and stands in the opening. Hayate-R just looks confused.

Turn 098: Let’s Split Up

Quentin-R and Isaac-O walk off the way the team entered, back toward the lift. Isaac-O has his pistol pointed at Quentin-R’s back.

As they walk away, Aken-R puts away his PDC, then points two fingers as his own eyes then at Quentin-R’s retreating back in an “I’m watching you” motion. He then moves over near Dean-O, waiting for the Team Leader to lead.

Dean-O watches the pair walk away, and suddenly has a thought, “Roy-R, you should go with them, to make sure they get there. The rest of you, this way, please.” He then heads toward the supply closet, followed by Aken-R and Hayate-R.

Roy-R says, “Yeth thir,” and follows Isaac-O and Quentin-R.

Turn 097: Make It So

Hayate-R quietly steps a little closer to the desk. His PDC is in his hand.

Aken-R glares at Quentin-R under the desk, takes a step toward it, and says, “Quentin-R I do not believe you have the authority to sell such item to another clone. If he wishes to purchase such things then he can visit his nearest PLC outlet. But to make a profit out of his apparent misfortune seems quite underhanded. As loyalty officer I will have to make a note of this.” He then taps at his PDC for a while.

Quentin-R gives one of the plasticreds back to Larry-R and murmurs something quietly to him, then places a stapler, some RED Stick-Y™ notes, and a pen in Larry-R’s lap. He then crawls out from under the desk, pats Larry-R on the arm, and says, “You’ll be just fine Larry, just fine.” He then straightens his jumpsuit top in a way reminiscent of Picard-I-TRK from the famous vidshow, Far Outside Trek: The Next Decanting, and looks boldly about, asking, “So, which way to the booth?”

“Hey, Thoot-Em-Up!” Roy-R tells Quentin-R. “Leave the witnethth alone and go report your crime of killing my previouth clone already!”

Isaac-O steps forward toward Quentin-R and says stiffly, “This way, I think.” He extends an arm back the way they came.

Dean-O lets all this pass him by as he stares happily at… well… nothing….

Larry-R looks at his new ‘aquisitions’ with delight and slurs, “Wha nishe guy… Wunner whutza haggle. Izzit uh kinda lock?”

Turn 096: Or You Could Take What’s Behind Cubicle Number 3

Roy-R grunts, perhaps a shade less than manditorily happy, and glares briefly in Quentin-R’s direction. He then looks expectantly at Dean-O.

Dean-O says to Quentin-R, “It’s alright by me, if our freaky friend here doesn’t mind waiting for you.”

Isaac-O shrugs at this.

Aken-R, meanwhile, has picked himself up off the floor, straightened his uniform and steps back over to speak to Quentin-R, “What chat would that be? We’ve got trouble to be shooting.”

Quentin-R ignores this and motions for Larry-R to stick his head under the desk, which he does, unsteadily. There is a brief mumbled statement from Quentin-R [several clatterclatterclatters], then [clatterclatterclatter] Larry-R says loudly, “Gee, Thanksh. Ya got shumthin ah kin lock shtuff in sho it dun git shtoled agin?” He reaches in a pocket and pulls out a few plasticreds. He counts out a few and hands them to Quentin-R.

Hayate-R does an inspection of Quentin-R’s laser body. [clatterclatterclatter]

Sorry for the delay, but when only 2 of your players turn in a turn, it makes one want to pause and question as to what’s going on.
