The Concord of Ashes

Draguta

A Gangrel Sinner of the northern Carpathians, this archer and scout despises Christianity and the soft ways of Civilisation. She is a priestess of Veles.

Draguta

Description

This woman might be confused for a peasant girl or a woodsman’s daughter if not for the feral, wolf-like aspect to her face and her pupil-less, red eyes. She wears cured animal hides for clothing, has a knife and a quiver at her belt and carries a short bow. Her face is crusted with blood.

Bio

A violent, antagonistic priestess of Veles, Draguta is the wayward progeny of the eccentric Aleksandr Taratus of Rodna. Her sire rules the mortals of his demesne as Boyar, and the Cainites as Knez. Taratus considers himself to be civilised in comparison to the Transylvanian Gangrel, and enjoys the pretensions of vampiric nobility that his alliance with Dzardescu grants him. Draguta is often mistaken for a Feral (and indeed she shares many of their philosophies regarding Civilisation) but she in fact follows the Road of Sin, and is dedicated to driving back the scourge of Christianity by and all means possible.

Draguta appears to find her sire’s pretentiousness odious, and instead idolises Arnulf the Goth. While she loyally attended the Gangrel Gather near Tihuta with her sire, her admiration for the Feral elder was clear. She was bested at the Gather by her rival, Dragos, a childe of Taratus’ younger brother-in-blood, Vsevolodovich. According to Milov Petrenkov and Mitru of Napoca, the grudge between the childer is a perpetuation of that between their sire’s, stemming from some apparent quarrel in their own youth. Draguta clearly does not appreciate being mixed up in her sire’s foolish rivalries, and it is thought that she remains at her sire’s beck and call only for his strong support of the Old Faith. Unlike her brother in blood, the fearsome Demyan, Draguta chooses to serve Taratus abroad as a member of De Nord Sânge, so that she need not see her sire with any regularity.

She is the primary detractor of Bogdan Basarab within the Northern Blood, sarcastically pointing out the impracticalities of his wilder plans and seeking to undermine his leadership. She worships Trandafira though, and continues to take part in De Nord Sânge as it gives her the opportunity to protect the koldun. This is really all that holds her to the coterie, though apparently it is enough. Her niche in the coterie is her skill with Animalism, which allows her to keep tabs on territory far out of their direct influence, and also to negate that same advantage to their enemies.

Lineage: Childe of Knez Aleksandr Taratus of Rodna, Childe of Viktor the Proud; of the line of the Stranger
