Quarak Talonblack was born and raised in the City of Keels and Piles, and it shows. He speaks the languages of the city with a slanted, mocking accent that seems custom-made for mocking disrespect and fierce independence. His mother and father were both members of the shadow economy (a smuggler and a poisonmaker, respectively), though Quarak eventually ended up following more in his mother’s footprints than his father’s. He is a burglar of consummate ability who has made a name for himself as a thief of valuables from a dozen different caravans. He’s no slouch in combat, either, and more than one overly aggressive caravan guard has found himself hamstrung or disemboweled by Quarak’s skillful sword work.
Like many members of the Collective Friend, Quarak sees his work as much more than a means to an end. He’s a professional, an artisan. He’s more than happy to hand over part of his spoils to Jack and company after a challenging job, because the real reward was the job. And if the new blokes he’s joined up with are as promising as they seem, he’s in for a right rum time of fishing and by-the-numbers indeed, innit squire?
