Bio

Previously known as Chandra Stillpetal, Icetalon exalted many years ago around the time her children were captured by a raiding band of slavers. After she chased down and murdered those that took her children away, word quickly got out about the new “anathema” on the loose. Her husband became fearful and took his freed children to a hideout in the mountains of the north after alerting the monks in a nearby immaculate temple.

Chandra was forced to flee into the forests of the east, where she met a few lunar elders that performed the ceremony necessary to give her the tattoos she needed. When she again emerged, they aided her in finding her family. Her husband had missed her and regretted his actions, but as soon as they were about to leave under cover of night, a group of elite immaculate soldiers surrounded the house and lit it aflame. Though Chandra managed to escape, her family was not so fortunate.

Initially, Icetalon became a hateful, vengeful force in the north, randomly attacking Realm territories all around the north. When the Wyld Hunt became too great a threat, she eventually retreated into a manse occupied by a friendly band of Mountain Folk that agreed to share their home in return for protection. As she grew rooted to her new home, she attempted to fill the void in her life with stories of the first age; she took advantage of the tomes of knowledge found in the manse, as well as the wisdom of the Mountain Folk elders. After a while, she became fascinated with the diversity of martial arts forms described in the old texts. Eventually, she came out of seclusion to take periodic trips to various sections of creation to learn more.

As time went by, she began experimenting with what she new while training with other lunars in the lands she visited. As normal mortal lifetimes passed by, the pain in her heart dulled away and she honed her skills to perfection. But she was not satisfied. After mastering a number of different schools of martial combat, she began mixing and altering different techniques to try and invent her own.

When she was returning north one autumn, she happened across a distraught young barbarian boy who was wandering dangerously close to the edge of creation. She found it surprising that such a small warrior had survived so far out in the tundra on his own, so she decided to observe him for several days afterward. When he seemed about to collapse from exhaustion and starvation, she began circling down to see if she could help him. But at that moment, she was startled with a rare privilege. Before her very eyes, the young man was surrounded in an all-too-familiar silver aura, signifying that he’d just obtained a lunar exaltation of his own.

After following the young man- who was now a small white fox- back the way he’d come for a full day, she confronted him. Following some lengthy explanations and discussions with the none-too-trusting icewalker, she convinced him to come with her to receive his tattoos. But it did not end there. After some unsatisfying raids on other Icewalker territories, the young man, who she now knew as Zeru, became her student. Though he was a difficult student to teach, being a very troubled teen with anger issues, he picked up certain aspects of short-blade combat very well.

Eventually she developed a motherly fondness for Zeru, who she affectionately dubbed “Snowflake”, but he was entirely too obsessed with his own revenge to develop any close relationships of any kind. She understood this need all too well, so after she felt he was ready, she found a group of other exalts that’d banded together to face a common enemy to place him with, hoping that he’d either overcome his problems with their help, or perhaps achieve the vengeance he desired so strongly.
