Description
Marcus stands roughly six feet tall and is on the lean side despite his weight. His dark hair is worn short and his eyes are a penetrating green. His clothing is all dark earthy colors. His cloak is a smokey grey, his pants a dark forest green, his pair of black boots are inscribed with dark green arcane lettering around the tops. He keeps a dark grey scarf wrapped around his neck that can be pulled up and used as a mask. His mithral chain shirt is blackened and treated to make almost no noise. Over his chain shirt he wears a black leather breastplate with a phoenix stamped onto it. His pauldrons are blackened mithral. One is wrought in the appearance of a snarling tiger, showing his training in the Tiger Claw school. The other sports a fanged skull, with an onyx in the middle of the forehead, to denote the Diamond Mind style. His armored bracers show the designs and sigils of various other battle schools he has studied. His black gloves look delicate but for the blood-red arcane lettering on the back of the palms.
He carries no weapons openly. The kurki knives that he prefers are sheathed at the small of his back. He carries a small dagger in his right boot as well.
Starting Biography
Marcus Jens and his family are the model of what is possible in the Garic Federation. His family lived and worked as part of a large farm co-operative near the Border with the Garic Federation. This land was given to a large and politically well-connected plantation owner named Harman Alvessa. The farmers refused to leave and were driven out by plantation enforcers. His father was killed resisting the takeover.
Marcus, his mother Alma, his older brother Rearden, and his sister Embrith fled across the border to Walsh. After a period to help get the family on their feet, Rearden disappeared. He returned in 986 W., founded Redhawk Arms and brought Marcus in at a young age to start learning the trade. Rearden hasn’t told Marcus much of his exploits but Marcus knows that his brother has seen horrors that no other man has.
While no one in the company would level a charge of nepotism, Marcus feels driven to prove that he can stand on his own. He has aggressively pursued every mission given to him. He’s only operated in Areen and the Garic Federation but is itching for the chance to go abroad.
Marcus is violently opposed to Areen and the Plantation barons that play a major role in his father’s death. He fully intends to see Harman Alvessa, the plantation lord responsible for his father’s death, drown in his own blood, but he’s smart enough to wait until he can accomplish his mission and leave no trace.
He full believes in the freedom espoused by the ideals that are held in the Garic Federation. While he fully understands the nature of hierarchy, he chafes at the idea of bureaucracy and is philosophically opposed to the structure that he sees in Areen. He is working diligently to develop his own contacts in Walsh and the surrounding areas. Marcus is known as a fierce and calculating ally but a stealthy and brutal enemy.
