Kourin was raised in a relatively small village in the northern area of the Eldeen Reaches. He was the only child of the blacksmith’s family and was the only Skarn in the area. He was raised with a deep, abiding faith in the sovereign host; especially in the power of Onatar. He found comfort in the words of the local priest and wished he could wield the power of creation himself.
His father taught him some about the ways of the smithy, but Kourin was always more interested in imposing his will on creation. With that as his goal, he eventually was able to manifest his will and shape the incarnum around him. This brought him to the attention of the local priest, who tried to make a cleric of him. His abilities, however, had a more martial bent. Because of this, the priest focused his training to become a warrior of the church.
His life was changed when some villagers caught him in the middle of transformation one moon, and drove him out of town. He spent the remainder of his teenage life wandering the reaches and trading his talents for meals and places to stay.
When the decrees began to come out of the Church of the Silver Flame, Kourin sought out the shifter druids in hopes of protection. He has been living on the outskirts of their village and helping to defend them ever since….
