“People underestimate how dangerous a staff can be. Just like people always seem to underestimate me.”
First and foremost, Zinn is a survivor, willing to do whatever it takes to keep hold of both her freedom and her future.
Zinn seems to be accustomed to living with little, gaunt cheeks and a thin frame give her the appearance of a street rat. Her quarterstaff, at first glance, seems more like she may use it for assistance walking rather than as any kind of weapon, but she has trained in its use extensively; and she fights dirty. Short red hair, green eyes, pale skin and freckles on both her face and arms mark her as someone who has seen her share of a life under the sky.
Zinn has always seemed vaguely paranoid to those who spent any length of time with her. While the girl is an excellent liar, when it comes to friendly inquiries about her past, she is unable to stop herself from tensing up and falling silent, something she is finding the need to overcome in recent days. The crew recently learned that Zinn is an escaped slave, once personal plaything to Salaeraahn Tuuhlfaar, known throughout Reeanaaria Bay as “The Devil of the Seas”. Few believe him to actually exist, a ghost story of a vicious and supernaturally empowered pirate captain, but both Zinn and the crew now know better. Somehow Salaeraahn has forged a bond between Zinn and himself, sharing injuries as well as brief glimpses into each other’s minds, a trait he exploits to track her further in an attempt to reclaim his “little songbird”.
Despite her initial deceptions and failure to warn the others of her enemy, the crew (while perhaps angered) chose not to abandon her, a great act of kindness she seeks to somehow repay, yet something she has trouble showing her true appreciation for. Her only goals now are to show the crew how useful an asset she can be, properly thank them for allowing her to stay with them and thus saving her life, and to search for a way to break her bond with the man who took everything from her.
