This land is in desperate need of heroes. Finally a few are rising up to change the stars
“This land was once beautiful.” says the elder of your village.“It was once a land of milk and honey. the rivers water was clean, the crops fed the whole community, the trees were green and the sound of songbirds could be heard… Do you find this hard to believe, a world that is happy, well its true, I was but a boy when Akris was happy, but then He took power, He used His vile magics to seize the throne. He is an evil disgusting monster and I hope one day you can live in a world without His wicked stench, without His plague on this land.”
This was the last time you saw the village elder, the villagers pretended like nothing changed but you know the Shadow-guard took and got rid of him for spreading anti-Kalroc beliefs. Stupid fool couldn’t just keep quiet for another year or so before lack of food, disease, bandits or monsters would have finished him off. Surly starvation is preferable to whatever Kalroc does to his enemies.
The world of Akris was once a peaceful land, now it is run by the Sorcerer-king Kalroc The Great as He has His subjects call Him. While He claims to care for the people, He cares only for the rise of His own power. thats all the powerful care about, increasing their power. From the mighty king to local warlords Power is all anyone cares about.
Our story begins in the village of Shepford, on the great river, far enough away from The Crimson City to be relatively safe from Kalroc’s forces, but close enough to feel the terrible effects of His rule. The land is marred, the livestock is sick, the river has swallowed too many for it to be natural.
